The Bergedorf Castle was erected about 1350. It used to be a residence of the dukes of Saxe-Lauenburg. In 1420 Lübeck and Hamburg conquered the castle. Here, they established a condominium over the region. It lasted until 1867, when Bergedorf became a part of Hamburg. The castle today accomodates a regional museum.
