Meersburg New Palace
The New Palace impressively crowns the city silhouette of Meersburg high above Lake Constance. In addition to the Old Palace, the “Meersburg”, this representative “New Building” was built beginning in 1710. As the residence of the prince bishops, it primarily fulfilled the requirements for representation of the baroque princes. And the exposed location on the lake terrace and the magnificent rooms of the New Palace are still fascinating today. In the vineyards above the palace the prince bishops erected a small house. In the 19th century the poetess Anette von Droste-Hülshoff purchased this “Fürstenhäusle” (Princes’ Little House).
