The castle of Stainz is situated right in the heart of Styria and is surrounded by the beautiful house-owned apple and wine yards. Since Archduke Johann of Austria bought the castle in 1840, it is owned by his successors, the counts of Meran. The origins of the former Augustine Chorherren monastery date back to the Baroque and Renaissance periods. Parts of the castle such as the yard, the old vine cellar or the refectory can be booked for private events. Enjoy taking a look at the castle’s beautiful rooms in one of our guided tours that can only be booked for groups. Those visitors who are interested in hunting and nature can take a look at the Styrian Hunting Museum that is situated in the western part of the castle. Tradition, flair and romance together with outstanding nature – that is and ever was Stainz Castle.
