Majestically and unexpectedly rises Weissenstein castle – a giant masterpiece of Baroque architecture – out of the quiet and undulating landscape of Franconia. The summer residence of Lothar Franz von Schönborn, prince-bishop and elector of Bamberg and Mainz, impresses not only with its monumental architecture, but also with splendid apartments. The central block is filled out completely with the three-storied staircase, decorated with a magnificent ceiling fresco, the noble marble hall and the fabulous appointed Garden Room.
